Boys Construction called in by Bury Metro to rebuild and extend Goshen Gymnastics Centre.

The project comprises the 1.5 million pound refurbishment of the existing fire damaged gymnastics amenity block and new construction of a gymnastics hall for Bury MBC

The construction work will comprises of piled foundations and gas protection measures due to previous contamination of the site. There will also be a substantial gymnastics landing pit constructed using reinforced concrete walls with an integrated tanking / gas protection membrane.

The gymnastics hall itself is a steel portal frame constuction with composite cladding, rainscreen cladding and Kalwall transluscent panels to the building envelope. Feature brickwork piers will be constructed that allow the steelwork to site outside of the internal gymnastics hall wall line.

The existing building has been stripped out and will be re-roofed, a new external render system applied, and new windows and doors fitted. New shower and changing areas to service both the gymnastics centre and external sports activities associated with the adjacent sports fields will be provided. All electrical, plumbing and mechanical installations will be undertaken within the scope of Boys works.

B & E Boys were selected as preferred contractor by Bury MBC after the initial tender process and worked closely with the design team to value engineer the project within the extremely tight project budget.

B & E Boys have worked on numerous projects with Bury MBC and for the various educational establishements in the Bury area such as Bury College, Holy Cross College, and Bury Grammar School for Boys.

St Marys Chambers Conference Centre opens its doors for a new operator.

St Marys Chambers Conference and Function Centre operators Michael and Julie Coady are moving on after 6 years running Rossendales premier venue. Michael and Julie took over the running of the venue after the original caterers Steve and Wendy Anderton emigrated. The couple first started catering nearly 20 years ago working at the Rolls Royce factory Social Club in Barnoldswick. In 2005 the couple decided taking over St Marys Chambers Conference and Function would compliment their already established outside catering business but with growing popularity for outside event something had to give. Mr Coady said that it was becoming increasingly difficult to run both his Classic Caterer business and the on site catering requirements at St Marys Chambers. He said “I just couldn’t do two things at once, and St Marys was suffering as a result”. Michael and wife Julie are hoping to hand over the keys to new management in August.

Peter Boys said “We think St Marys offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with fresh ideas and enthusiasm to put St Marys back on the map. St Marys is a fantastic facility and has great future potential”. St Marys Chambers holds a license for Civil Ceremonies.

The centre has had its share of notorious visitors with names such as Nick Leeson, Derek Hatton, Paul Burrel and the Hamiltons raising money for charity there. Although more recently famous politicians and Premiers such as Tony Blair and David Cameron have called in at St Marys during national election campaigns to rally support.

The subject of a recent make over by a London interior designer, St Marys Chambers is a prominent Grade 2 listed building, constructed in 1856 by local businessmen David and Peter Whitehead as a Methodist Church after a disagreement with the congregation at Longholme Methodist Church some 300 yards away.

After its use as an air raid gathering point and subsequent use by Rossendale Senior Citizens the property was bought by local Developers B & E Boys in 1990 and eventually renovated in 1999 providing 3 floors of offices and superb Conference and Function facilities

Boy band “The Wanted” at Burney FC

B & E Boys have been advertising at “The Clarets” ground for many years now, witnessing the highs and the lows from the dug out. 

However a new high was reached the other week – well for the ladies – when boy band “The Wanted” took part in a charity match at Turf Moor, Burnley, home to the Clarets. However the event wasn’t without incident.

BFC were in the news after former Labour party spin doctor Alastair Campbell was allegedly involved in ugly scenes with one of The Wanted at a Soccer six charity match. However we are assured by everyone involved that it was just a bit of fun and not what it seemed.

We dont have a photo of the guys facing the camera – but I’m sure the ladies wont object to this cheeky shot!

Boys awarded factory extension work at Drury Adams, Bacup.

Drury Adams, one of the UK’s largest foam converters, supply foam product for the furniture industry.

B & E Boys have been awarded the job of constructing much needed extra space at the Bacup factory.

Work commenced a couple of weeks ago on site and will involve the construction of a cladded steel portal frame building within the existing car park and loading area at the premises.

As well as constructing industrial and commercial premises in the private eterprise Boys also undertake construction work in the public and health care sectors having worked for NHS and Private Health Care Trust as well as working at schools and colleges throughout the north west.

Boys are also long established house builders and are currently working on their Springside residential development in Rawtenstall.

B & E Boys have been awarded a £250,000 project for the National Trust.

The Boys deliver quality affordable homes for the local community.

B & E Boys have sucessfully completed another housing scheme for affordable homes provider Calico Homes.

The Pendle Avenue site comprises of 40 homes whic are a mixture of large detached, bungalows, and two and three storey town houses. The completion of the 11 affordable homes concludes the work on Pendle Avenue.

B & E Boys are currently completing work on their own Springside Homes site in Rawtenstall which comprises of 15 town houses.

Boys still have other housing sites to commence in the borough including the former Whiberry View care home site in Cloughfold Rawtenstall as well as Greensnook in Bacup.

The Company has been building new homes for close to 40 years, the majority of which have been as NHBC registered house builders.

When the Chips are down…Boys called to rebuild Chip Shop next to Manchesters Printworks.

B &E Boys have won a contract to carry out significant structural works to a small retail property next to the Printworks,in Manchester,just off Shudehill.
